RDSメンテナンスウィンドウにOSアップグレードが入ったときに気づきたすぎ問題。

こんばんは。
[ここになんか機知に富んだ肩書き]なもに倉です(思いつかなかった)。

今回は、RDSメンテナンスウィンドウにOSアップグレードが入ったときに
気づきたすぎ問題が解消されましたのでご紹介します。
設定を入れると通知を飛ばせるようになりました。

たったこれだけで！　OSアップグレード通知設定

RDSのマネジメントコンソール画面の左カラムから、「イベントサブスクリプション」を選びます。
そして、右上にある「イベントサブスクリプションを作成」をクリック。

作成画面に移行するので、名前やターゲットはいいかんじに設定します。

そして、ソースタイプを「インスタンス」に設定し、通知の対象にしたいRDSを選択。
イベントカテゴリで「security patching」を選択すれば、OSアップグレードの通知がくるようになります！

作成した後はしっかりステータスがアクティブになっていることを確認しましょうね。

設定したメールアドレスあてに以下のようなメールが届いていればOK。

既存のイベントサブスクリプションに追加したいときは

対象のイベントサブスクリプションにチェックを入れ、「編集」をクリックします。
(さっき作ったやつに見えますが、気にしないでください)

あとは先ほどと同様で、イベントカテゴリで「security patching」を選択すれば、OSアップグレードの通知がくるようになります！

実際に来るメール

どんなメールが来るのかわかっていたほうが便利ですよね。内容英語なので読むのも大変だし(英語ができないもに倉)。

1. Customers are responsible for applying patches in accordance with their organizational policies and compliance requirements.
2. Amazon RDS customers are responsible for the security configuration and management tasks for the Amazon RDS instance as well as automatically or manually upgrading to minor and major versions of the database engines. AWS pushes updates for Amazon RDS via the customer Console, API, and/or CLI. Amazon RDS customers choose a maintenance window when to apply updates. Updates that are marked as "available" can be deferred indefinitely. Amazon RDS customers can choose to defer an update. Doing so is at the customer's discretion and any associated risks should be assessed by the customer. However, certain OS updates are marked as required. If Amazon RDS customers defer a required update, they will get a notice from Amazon RDS indicating when the update will be performed. Required patching is automatically scheduled only for patches that are related to security and instance reliability. Required patching occurs infrequently (typically once every few months) and seldom requires more than a
  fraction of your maintenance window.
3. By electing to opt-out of or not opting in to maintenance or automated version upgrades, customers acknowledge that they are aware of the risks and accept responsibility for having AWS run their instances without applying security patches. In particular, they are acknowledging acceptance of the security risks of running instances which are not fully patched.
